My son, Darius, began attending Aim High about 6 months ago at age 4. At the time, he was diagnosed with ADHD, was very impulsive, aggressive, openly defied authority, had tantrums, easily frustrated, was a victim of emotional and physical abuse by a babysitter, and had a lot of behavioral issues. I hoped to find an instructor with a tremendous amount of patience and understanding for my son’s personal difficulties and who could help him to gain self esteem, confidence, help him focus, concentrate, be respectful, give him a work ethic, and help him center himself and find an inner calmness. This is exactly what we found in Daniel Sikkens. Darius has made a huge amount of progress. Although Darius is still extremely energetic and is still impulsive, he is redirected much more easily now. He also has more confidence, is expanding his comfort zone, has several friends, and is more aware of how his actions affect others. At Aim High, the instructors make class fun and they genuinely care about each and every child they teach. They go the extra mile. Their relationship does not end on the floor. The instructors are also interested in how the children are doing outside of martial arts class, in school, at home, and any personal issues that the child may be dealing with. In fact, Daniel and I work closely together to make significant decisions for my son. I have seen the magic that happens at Aim High and all the lives they touch in such a positive way. Aim High provides a family atmosphere and makes hard work so much fun that you do not want to leave. I love the school and wish I could spend all day there. Daniel is not just my son’s instructor. He is now a member of our family. I can’t thank Daniel enough for all he has done for my son, all his patience, and all his dedication. He has really made a big difference in my son’s life and I will be forever grateful
